New! Tips for making hotel reservations.
From Jen: I grew up in a military family, spending time in several states and then in Europe for my high school years. Since my entry into the working world, I have traveled across the United States.
Most of my work travels have been solo attending conferences and work meetings. My personal travels were originally with my family, then with friends, then as a single mother, leading my three kids on grand adventures. I now enjoy travel with my daughter, who I hope will lend her perspective as well.
With each trip to a new location comes the opportunity to learn about new places and cultures and see beautiful natural and man-made places. Doing new things can bring anxiety, but I have found that being prepared helps a great deal. It is why I started this site. To provide information and tips on what to expect in different situations to alleviate some of the anxiety. The other way I have learned to address the anxiety is to practice. So, GET PREPARED, BE CONFIDENT AND GO WANDER BOLDLY!!
I hope as a part of this community, you will be able to use these tools and get out there into the wonderful world! There are still many things I have not done and places I have not seen, so feel free to send me a message with suggestions for topics or tips that have worked for you. You may even get a guest spot.
From Bella:
I have had a fair share of trips with my friends and teammates, but it is fair to say that without the lessons I have learned from my Mom about traveling safely, those trips would not have run so smoothly.
Now, as I am attempting to navigate college as an adult, I notice that the experiences from those adventures are helping to lead me through this journey. Not only did the travel teach me how to use a bus or buy plane tickets home, but they taught me many other valuable lessons in forging my independence. My hope is to offer a younger, and different perspective than that of my Mom who had the great idea of creating this site.
Disclaimer: It is not our intent to cover every possibility in travel. Everyone has their own standards and levels of comfort. When traveling you should be willing to test yourself but still feel comfortable. Ones safety can also not be guaranteed, but with reasonable precautions, safety concerns will not be the focus of your travels. I hope the information provided here will lead to more positive experiences.
